Trade Fair Design Annual 2002 (2002/2003)
Published in Paperback by Birkhauser (Architectural) (15 December, 2002)
Author: Conway Lloyd Morgan
Average review score:

Trade Fair Design Annual 2002/2003
The focus of this edition of TRADE FAIR DESIGN ANNUAL 2002/2003 is put on stands at international trade shows and on exhibits up to 15 000sq feet. Among the 27 examples are stands for Mercedes Benz by KauffmannTheilig and by American stars in the fair business like Mauk Design for Sony Computers Play Station or Lorenc+Yoo for Sony Ericsson.
Although many of the extraordinary stands displayed come from German designers the book shows that today good exhibit design is also made in the UK and in the United States.
As with most trade fair design books coming from avedition this book shows respect to the great overall design idea, presented in sumptuous king size pictures, ... an impression that is backed by the total appearance of the book.
The book consists of five chapters, showing fair stands for transportation, life style, b2b, communication and out of the hall. The design ideas are commented in typically English twinkle toed text, which comes from the London Journalist Conway Lloyd Morgan.

Another new book on the design of stands for fairs and trade shows comes from the German interior design publicist Ingrid Wenz-Gahler and - in total contrast to the book by Conway Lloyd Morgan - concentrates on SMALL stands.
In spite of its English title BIG IDEAS FOR SMALL STANDS the publisher abstained from an English translation - very unusual for books by Ingrid Wenz-Gahler - so you will have to order the book via friends in Europe through amazon.de.
Corresponding with its subtitle - Success with Small Stands - this book concentrates on the 90 percent of all stands for fairs and trade shows which are smaller than 250sq feet. The book shows 66 examples of stands from almost all sectors of business, presented with numerous photos, floor plans and their design and marketing concept. - A guidebook for all those marketing people or designers who are responsible for their companies or their clients performance at a trade show. Although the stands are small many of them have been conceived by stars in this business such as Fabio Novembre, Simone Micheli, Stefan Zwicky, Jordan Mozer or Lorenc+Yoo.

Both books complement one another and provide ideas and arguments how your presentation at a fair or trade show can be more efficient.

Trucks
Published in Hardcover by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (February, 1999)
Authors: Edie Evans and J. Conteh Morgan
Average review score:

First book on trucks
Colorful pictures of various trucks. Each truck describes itself with a small rhyme. My 3 yr old son loves this book, especially the rhymes. Though he has other books on trucks, this is his favourite. He uses a different voice for each rhyme. Sounds as if, the truck is really talking. This is a good book to begin with.

Uncle Earl deserved better : critical analyses of Blaze, a film written and directed by Ron Shelton, and Earl K. Long--The saga of Uncle Earl and Louisiana politics, by Michael L. Kurtz and Morgan Peoples, with further commentary on The last of the red-hot papas
Published in Unknown Binding by Good Reading Books ()
Author: Jack B. McGuire
Average review score:

a very well-researched indictment
Jack McGuire, who knew Earl Long personally, thinks Michael Kurtz in his 1990 biography of Long done him wrong. In this work, McGuire proceeds to tear apart piece by piece Kurtz's scholarship, finding errors of both fact and interpretation that send chills down the spine of any writer trying to piece together similar tales of Louisiana history. As a companion piece to Kurtz's book, McGuire's work serves as a powerful illustration of how two respected scholars can come to vastly different conclusions on the same topic. McGuire is one of the most meticulously scathing reviewers I have ever read. His book is also greatly enhanced by a healthy collection of Earl Long photos, many of them never before published in book form. One gets the feeling after reading McGuire's book, that Earl Long would have slapped him on the back, bought him a drink and oozed "That's my boy!"

Vikings in Ireland
Published in Hardcover by The O'Brien Press (June, 1997)
Author: Morgan Llywelyn
Average review score:

Excellent overview
This is an excellent overview of the subject. Presents comprehensive information in plain and simple language. It didn't get the fifth star only because it lacks a bibliography. There are no references for someone who'd like to read further on the subject. Otherwise, recommended.

Virginians at Home: Family Life in the Eighteenth Century
Published in Hardcover by Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (July, 1952)
Author: Edmund S. Morgan
Average review score:

great introduction to colonial life
This brief overview of colonial life in Virginia is both entertaining and instructional. Professor Morgan draws on numerous diary entries, letters and newspaper accounts to illustrate life in Virginia. Although most of the text is in regard to families living on plantations, there is plenty of information pertaining to farmers and townspeople as well as indentured servants and slaves. Chapters include: 1) Growing Up; 2) Getting Married; 3) Servants and Slaves; and 4) Houses and Holidays.

Visual J++ Unleashed
Published in Paperback by Sams (December, 1996)
Authors: Bryan Morgan and Sams Publishing
Average review score:

Decient Start to Java
I enjoyed Morgan, et. al., writing style. They authors move quickly through introductory information related to the Java programming language not just J++. There are plenty of examples and coverage of COM, HTML, and scripting. I found their analogies of encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism one of the best and understandable for concepts foreign to monolithic application builders. I hope they write a second version.

Voyage of American Promise
Published in Hardcover by Houghton Mifflin Co (October, 1990)
Author: Dodge Morgan
Average review score:

Adventuure for the desk bound
Dodge speaks well of the sea and the solitude it can create as he circumnavigates the oceans. His log maintains an even keel inspite of the turmoil at sea. For the uninitiated, American Promise is a strange setting for soul searching and learning to love. Well done Dodge.

Where Angels Fear to Tread, and Other Tales of the Sea
Published in Hardcover by Ayer Co Pub (June, 1999)
Author: Morgan Robertson
Average review score:

excellent collection of nautical tales
I am priviledged to own an original autographed edition of this book. This collection is interesting, compelling, and not at all dated. Mr. Robertson was obviously well schooled in the ways of the career sailor. The author is able to convey his love of adventure to the reader. Of special interest is the last story, Primordial, a complete departure from the author's normal fare. Robertson is well known by Titanic fans as the man who correctly foretold the great disaster, (in his previously published Futility). This collection stands well on it's own merits.
